Eddie Bravo's Rubber Guard "The NewSchool"
In this sequence Eddie ‘Twister’ Bravo shows yet another one of his innovative rubber guard setups to lock on the triangle choke.
| Hold your opponent’s head down by headlocking him with your left arm. Use the classic wrestling grip with your right hand. | ![]() |
| Shift your hips by pushing off your opponent’s right hip. | ![]() |
| ONLY while your opponent’s right hand is on the mat, bring your left leg up, hook it with your left arm and reclaspe the SAME grip with your right hand and squeeze tight! IMPORTANT: With your right elbow, push your opponent’s left shoulder so that you can sneak your right knee out a little. | ![]() |
| In this position, your opponent will be only to hit you with his left hand. BUT you’ll need him to try and punch you with his left so that you can set up the triangle on him. Just squeeze tight on his head and WAIT for him to try and punch you. When he does, use your right foot to block the strike. | ![]() |
| After stuffing his left punch, you’ll need to get your right leg OVER his left shoulder to go for the triangle. Release your left leg from your left arm and immediately re-headlock him while setting up your legs for the triangle. | ![]() |
| With the same wrestling grip, pull his head down as hard as you can while thrusting your hips up and count to 10. If done properly, your opponent will tap at about 6 or 7. | ![]() |
