Here is Elliott Bayev’s complete Spider Guard Gameplan in mindmap form, and it’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen…
It covers the ‘regular’ double feet on biceps spider guard.
It also covers more advanced positions like the leg lasso guard, de la spider guard, spider X guard, collar and sleeve, and the spider collar guard.
Plus it gives breaks down the setups, finishes, counters and recounters for the triangle choke and the omoplata (the two ‘heavy hitters’ when it comes to submissions from the spider guard).
Most importantly, this gameplan shows you the options and transitions you have in each position based on what reactions and resistance you get from your opponent.
It’s the perfect example of what high-level jiu-jitsu looks like.
It’s also so big that we couldn’t show it on this page; we had to put it into PDF form, and it’s best viewed with Adobe Reader (a free program that’s probably already on your computer).
All these techniques (and more) will be covered in detail in the soon-to-be released Spider Guard Masterclass instructional that I did together with another BJJ black belt and mad scientist, Elliott Bayev…
Thanks!

P.P.S. If you’re having difficulty viewing this PDF document then it’s probably because you’re not using Adobe Reader – it’s very detailed, and thus doesn’t display well in most internet browsers. Download the Mindmap to your computer and then open it in Adobe Reader to fix this problem.
