*** VERSION 2.0 NOW OUT! ***
The Complete System for Dominating Your Opponent from Your Guard, Now With MORE Sparring and Drilling Footage Plus Bonus Content.
The de la Riva guard is a very powerful position, and modern BJJ is unthinkable without it.
A lot of people have problems adapting this position to no gi submission grappling. But the truth is that there ARE ways to adapt the de la Riva when you don’t have sleeves, lapels or belts to grab onto!
Rob Biernacki is the creator of two classic Grapplearts instructionals: The BJJ Formula and The Modern Leglock Formula. Now he’s sharing his complete system for the No gi de la Riva Guard which includes ONLY the techniques that work reliably without the gi.
Do You Have a Reliable and Effective Open Guard that Works in No Gi?
The guard you see most often in high level BJJ competition today is the de la Riva Guard. It’s used extensively by the Mendes brothers, the Miyao brothers, Cobrinha, Caio Terra, Leandro Lo, and many others.
If you’re wearing a gi then you have TONS of gripping options to control an opponent in your guard.
But the problem is that in no gi you don’t have any lapels, sleeves or pant grips to hold onto. Unconstrained by your grips the other guy can sprint in either direction, scramble past your legs, smash you in side control or take your back.
The good news is that you can still use the de la Riva Guard in no gi if you know what adjustments to make.
And it will become your new secret weapon for drive your sparring partners crazy.
Most no gi players aren’t prepared for a strong de la Riva attack. Since they have no answers for it, you can just spam sweeps and attacks at them with minimal effort.
It takes specific familiarity with this position to defend well against it, and early adopters of the No Gi de la Riva Guard will be ahead of the curve.
This is a System, NOT Just a Collection of Random Techniques
Your techniques need to connect together. One move sets up another move, and if a move fails you’ve got a backup.
Systems beat individual techniques every time.
It’s not how many techniques you know, but how well those techniques work together.
In the No Gi de la Riva Formula you’ll get a complete system for your guard that’ll work without sleeve, lapel, belt or pant grips.
You’ll be shown exactly how to get into position against an opponent who doesn’t want to let you engage him.
You’ll learn how to systematically stop your opponent from kicking his leg free, disengaging, and running away.
You’ll get procedures for off-balancing him so thoroughly that he won’t even be able to think about passing your guard. And then you’ll get step-by-step sweeps, submissions, and transitions.
This system for the de la Riva Guard in no gi will definitely give you an unfair advantage on the mats.

Who Am I?
My name is Stephan Kesting. I’m the producer and co-teacher of The No Gi de la Riva Formula.
I’m a BJJ black belt and have been doing martial arts for over 35 years, including many grappling arts like sambo, judo, submission wrestling and shoot wrestling.
My Youtube videos have over 49 million views, I’ve sold tens of thousands of instructional DVDs and apps, and millions of people have visited my Grapplearts website.
But until recently I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the de la Riva Guard.
On the one hand it’s relatively easy to establish the de la Riva in no gi – all you need to do is grab a heel and wrap one leg to the outside of his leg. So I ended up there a lot.
Problem was, I really didn’t know what to do from there, especially in no gi.
Without the sleeves, lapels, pants or belt to hold onto it was hard to control my opponent using the de la Riva. And I didn’t have a coherent strategy for attacking from this position either.
But that completely changed when I started working with Rob on his No Gi de la Riva Guard system.
As soon as I learned how to modify this guard position and use it to offbalance my opponent I felt better right away. And when I started adding in the attacks, transitions, and related positions, it instantly became one of my preferred positions on the ground.
What a turnaround!
If you’re even a little bit interested in improving your no gi guard then grab this instructional right away. I endorse it completely and guarantee it 100%.
Who is Rob Biernacki?
Rob Biernacki is a BJJ black belt, head instructor of Island Top Team, and the creator of the Modern Leglock Formula.
He’s also in the forefront of the new wave of BJJ instructors who use sports science, biomechanics, kinesiology and a conceptual approach to the martial arts.
Jiu-jitsu isn’t some sort of magic and doesn’t require extreme strength, speed, or athleticism. Instead it’s a struggle between two people using positioning, leverage and momentum.
The person who uses these concepts better has a HUGE edge over his opponent in BJJ.
This conceptual approach also makes the material faster for you to learn, remember, and apply in other situations.
Together with Stephan Kesting he has previously released the bestselling ‘BJJ Formula’ and ‘Modern Leglock Formula’ instructionals, both of which were scientific and biomechanically-based approaches to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Many people have described them as the best, most useful instructionals on BJJ that they have ever seen.
The No Gi de la Riva Formula was created through Rob’s intensive research, competition analysis, and experimentation with techniques and strategies learned from some of the best instructors and competitors in the world.
Rob has traveled to train with Marcelo Garcia, Caio Terra, Eddie Cummings, Paul Schreiner, Henry Akins, Ryan Hall, Dean Lister, Jake McKenzie, Ricardo Liborio, and Charles McCarthy from ATT from whom he received his black belt.
He frequently teaches seminars at academies throughout North America and is sought after for private instruction by other BJJ instructors seeking cutting edge information.
Rob has helped coach high level competitors like BJJ legend Yuri Simoes, Bill Cooper, Matt Kwan, Kyle Boehm and others to victory using his systematic approach to jiu-jitsu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What formats is The No Gi de la Riva Guard Formula available in?
A: It is currently available in a 4 DVD set (most of those DVDs are dual layer to fit all the information) and in an instantly available streaming format on Grapplearts.com. As part of the initial launch we’re offering an option of getting both the DVDs and the online version for the price of just the DVDs.
Q: Will this material work for beginners?
A: The de la Riva Guard with the gi can be a very deep rabbit hole. Once you start gripping sleeves, wrapping lapels, and using other forms of gi trickery it quickly becomes a very intricate and advanced system. And you need a handful of moves that work right now, not 10 million different moves
Now that has all changed.
Things are simplified in no gi. It removes much of the complexity and confusion. And Rob’s step-by-step system for the No Gi de la Riva is so streamlined that even whitebelts can use it. So yes, if you’re a beginner then you can benefit from this immediately. And the instructional also has enough advanced material to keep you coming back to it for a long time.
Q: Do you cover related guards or just the de la Riva in this instructional?
A: Obviously we cover the regular de la Riva Guard in this instructional but you’ll ALSO get a very detailed gameplan and all the techniques you need for the Mantis Guard, DMX Guard and the Reverse de la Riva Guard in this instructional.
By combining these four different variations of guards you’ll have answers and attacks no matter what kind of pressure or guard passes your opponent throws at you!
Q: Is this an app, or will a series of apps with this material become available in the future?
Firstly, the on-demand digital version plays very well on smartphones and tablets anywhere that you have data or a wifi connection.
It will eventually be coming out in app form too, but here’s the really cool thing…
If you get either the digital or the physical version of this instructional from this page today then when the apps comes out shoot me an email and I’ll hook you up with them for free.
Yes, this creates a little more work for me, but ultimately my business model is really just about getting people the information that’ll help them as fast as possible. And so I’m happy to give you the app version of this instructional too.
Q: Will this material also work with the gi?
A: Yes. Anything you can do without the gi you can also do with the gi, but the reverse is not always true.
The traditional de la Riva Guard relies heavily on sleeve, belt, lapel and pants grips which obviously won’t work in no gi.
However if you develop your no gi sweeping and submission skills then, when you put the gi on, you’ll find that you’ve built an excellent base of technique that’ll serve you really well with all those grips.
At that point all you’ll need to learn are a few grip breaks, and maybe a few extra gi-only tricks, and you’ll have a killer de la Riva game that works regardless of whether you’re doing no gi submission grappling or gi-based BJJ.
