Before training today I had a suspicion that it would be a tough day on the mats and I wasn’t wrong.
I mean, things went OK at the beginning with the drilling and workshopping. But when it came to sparring – well, damn.
The neurons took forever to fire, and the muscles moved in slow motion. My responses were predictable, and I blundered into the same bad situations again and again.
(Yes, I’m a fourth degree black belt, but I promise that these days happen to every black belt!)
I’m not sure if I’m fighting off a bug or if I was overtrained from doing too much lifting and long cardio this week, but the exact reason why doesn’t really matter.
The reality is that bad days is inevitable when you’re training.
Some days, you’re a god and untouchable. Everybody else is moving in slow motion, and you pull off things that seemed impossible yesterday.
And then there will be days when you want to burn your gi, throw out your limited-edition rashguards, and never train again.
Just remember, these shitty days too shall pass IF you keep on intelligently putting in the effort.
In the immortal words of Chumbawumba…
“I get knocked down But I get up again You’re never gonna keep me down.”
