Here are 3 tweaks that you can implement immediately to make your Kimura armlock MUCH more effective right away!
Add these modifications to your Kimura and you’ll find that you tap out a LOT more people.
The main mistakes and how to fix them are covered in detail in the video below, but here’s the overview…
- Problem: losing control of the arm you are attacking. Solutions: first choke his arm and use your head to really lock up his upper arm (0:14 to 1:17) and then be systematic and make sure that you use both your arms to control his arm when you’re switching your grip (1:18 to 1:57)
- Problem: applying the Kimura with his hand near his hip. Solution: bring his elbow up towards the head when applying the armlock (1:58 to 2:59)
- Problem: unable to finish the armlock once it’s in place. Solution: step your leg over his head so that your knee pins his face to the floor (3:00 to 3:55)
P.S. Have you ever wondered what the correct way to grip your opponent’s arm is when you’re doing the Kimura?
In this article and video I explain exactly why and when you should grip with four fingers on one side and the thumb on the other vs having all 5 fingers together on the same side of his wrist.
You’ll never screw this up again!
