What’s a grappler like me doing getting involved with a project like The Precision Kickboxing Masterclass that officially launched today?
Totally valid question…
First of all I trained in Muay Thai, Jun Fan JKD, and Kajukenbo for years. And dabbled in Savate, Capoeira and Boxing.
I like to think that I was pretty good at striking back in the day.
One of the things I learned is that there’s so much more to striking than simply going and banging away at focus mitts. Yes, that’s an important part of training but if it’s all you do then you’re in for a RUDE surprise the first time you spar.
In order to be able to fight with confidence you need to understand movement, footwork, timing, power generation, counterproofing, strategy and so much more.
Without that stuff you’re going to get your ass handed to you if you go against someone halfways decent in sparring.
That’s why I was super thrilled when I managed to convince Ritchie Yip to put his entire system for building confident kickboxers down on video.
Ritchie has been teaching kickboxing for over 20 years. He’s really, really good at getting people comfortable, confident and competent in an environment when punches and kicks are coming fast and furious.
Even more to the point, he’s not one of these take-one-to-give-one boxers who stands and bangs with his opponent while losing braincells by the bucket.
Instead his analytical and precise style of kickboxing will keep you out of danger while you size up and set up your opponent and then exploit his weaknesses. It’s a really cool approach.
Enough yapping, let’s get on to some punching and kicking!
Here’s a quick 49 second overview of what’s in this 8 hour instructional…

Honestly, I wish I had had this resource at the start of my martial arts career. It would have made my striking SO much better.
Cheers,
